About the wine

The Biferno DOC, established in the Molise region, represents a traditional viticultural identity centered in the province of Campobasso. The appellation covers red, rosato, and white wines, with the red typology being the most significant. Red wines are defined by a robust blend dominated by Montepulciano (70-80%) and Aglianico (10-20%), resulting in structured, velvety, and age-worthy wines that develop ethereal notes over time. The white wines are primarily based on Trebbiano Toscano, offering a crisp, harmonious profile. The production zone is characterized by hilly terrain with varied geological substrates, ranging from calcareous-marly formations to clay-sandy soils, which provide excellent drainage and fertility. The disciplinare emphasizes traditional viticultural practices, including specific pruning techniques to manage yields and ensure quality. The Biferno Rosso Riserva is particularly notable for its mandatory aging, which enhances its complexity and tannic structure, reflecting the historical and cultural heritage of Molise's winemaking.
