Pentro di Isernia
About the wine
The Pentro di Isernia DOC, often referred to simply as 'Pentro', is a historic appellation from the Molise region, centered around the province of Isernia. Recognized since 1983, this DOC encompasses white, red, and rosato wines produced from traditional local varieties. The white wines are primarily based on Falanghina and Trebbiano Toscano, resulting in a straw-yellow wine with greenish reflections, characterized by a delicate, fresh, and harmonious profile. The red wines, which include a 'Riserva' typology, rely on a blend of Montepulciano and the indigenous Tintilia grape. These reds are known for their ruby-red color, velvety texture, and subtle tannic structure, with the Riserva requiring significant aging in oak to develop its characteristic softness and complexity. The production zone is defined by hilly terrain at altitudes not exceeding 600 meters, benefiting from a Mediterranean climate that ensures gradual grape maturation. The wines reflect the deep-rooted viticultural history of the region, balancing traditional cultivation methods with modern technical precision.
