About the wine

The Rotae IGT covers the entire province of Isernia in the Molise region of Southern Italy. This denomination is highly permissive, allowing for the production of white, red, and rosato wines, including frizzante, novello, and passito styles. The production area is characterized by a hilly landscape with altitudes no lower than 200 meters above sea level, featuring well-drained, calcareous, and clay-marly soils. The climate is Mediterranean with significant autumn-winter rainfall. The history of viticulture in this area dates back to Roman times, with historical references to local wines like 'Paetrutianu'. Modern production focuses on small to medium-sized estates that utilize traditional techniques alongside contemporary viticultural practices. The IGT allows for the use of any grape variety authorized for cultivation in the Molise region, provided they meet the minimum quality standards defined in the disciplinare, ensuring a wide range of stylistic expressions.
