Teroldego Rotaliano
About the wine
Teroldego Rotaliano is a distinctive DOC from the Trentino region, centered on the unique alluvial plain of the Campo Rotaliano. This area, described by Cesare Battisti as the 'most beautiful vineyard garden in Europe,' features gravelly, well-draining soils that create a microclimate ideal for the Teroldego grape. The wine is known for its deep ruby color, intense fruity aromas, and a characteristic palate that is dry, savory, and slightly bitter with subtle almond notes. The DOC covers both red and rosato (kretzer) styles, with 'Superiore' and 'Riserva' designations reserved for wines meeting higher alcohol and aging requirements. The wine's identity is deeply tied to its specific terroir, which imparts a structural balance and organoleptic profile that cannot be replicated elsewhere, making it a benchmark for Trentino viticulture.
