Trento
About the wine
Trento DOC is a prestigious Italian appellation exclusively dedicated to sparkling wines produced via the traditional 'metodo classico' (bottle fermentation). Established in 1993 as Italy's first DOC for bottle-fermented sparkling wine, it reflects the unique alpine viticulture of the Trentino region. The wines are crafted from Chardonnay, Pinot Bianco, Pinot Nero, and Meunier, benefiting from significant diurnal temperature shifts that preserve acidity and aromatic complexity. The resulting wines are characterized by a fine, persistent perlage, delicate yeast notes, and a harmonious, vibrant palate. The DOC encompasses a wide range of communes across the Adige, Cembra, Sarca, and Valsugana valleys, where high-altitude vineyards and calcareous soils contribute to the wine's distinctive elegance. Aging requirements are stringent, with a minimum of 15 months on the lees for standard bottlings and 36 months for the Riserva category, ensuring depth and structural refinement.
