Arghillà
About the wine
The Arghillà IGT is a Calabrian designation covering red and rosato wines, including 'novello' styles. The production area is situated in the province of Reggio Calabria, specifically within the municipalities of Calanna, Campo Calabro, Fiumara, Villa San Giovanni, and several districts of Reggio Calabria. The region is characterized by hilly terrain overlooking the Strait of Messina, with vineyards benefiting from a coastal microclimate and soils of Miocene clay-arenaceous and Pliocene sandy origins. The wines are produced using traditional techniques, often reflecting the historical viticultural heritage of the area. The disciplinare allows for the use of any grape variety authorized for cultivation in the Calabria region, provided they are registered in the national vine variety catalog. The wines are noted for their balanced chemical-physical characteristics and distinct organoleptic profiles, with specific minimum alcohol requirements depending on the type and style.
