Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo
About the wine
Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo is a distinctive Italian rosé wine produced in the Abruzzo region, primarily from Montepulciano grapes. Historically linked to the Montepulciano d'Abruzzo DOC, it gained its own independent DOC status in 2010. The wine is characterized by its vibrant 'cherry-pink' color, derived from a short maceration period of 8-12 hours or white vinification. On the palate, it is known for being dry, harmonious, and delicate, often featuring a signature almond-like finish. The wine benefits from the region's significant diurnal temperature variations, influenced by the proximity of the Adriatic Sea and the Apennine massifs (Gran Sasso and Maiella), which help preserve acidity and aromatic complexity. It is a versatile, food-friendly wine that balances the structure of the Montepulciano grape with the freshness expected of a high-quality rosé.
