Terre Abruzzesi o Terre
About the wine
The Terre Abruzzesi or Terre d'Abruzzo IGT covers the entire administrative territory of the Abruzzo region in central Italy. This denomination is highly permissive, allowing for a wide range of wine styles including white, red, and rosato, as well as frizzante and passito versions. The region is characterized by a diverse landscape ranging from the Adriatic coastline to the high-altitude Apennine mountains, including the Gran Sasso and Maiella massifs. This topography creates significant diurnal temperature variations and beneficial breezes, which are essential for the development of aromatic complexity in the grapes. The IGT allows for a vast array of both indigenous varietals, such as Trebbiano and Pecorino, and international varieties like Chardonnay, Merlot, and Cabernet. The production standards focus on traditional viticultural practices, with specific yield limits and minimum alcohol requirements tailored to the different wine categories, ensuring the expression of the region's unique climatic and pedological conditions.
