Terre Aquilane
About the wine
The Terre Aquilane IGT, also known as Terre de L’Aquila, covers the entire administrative territory of the L’Aquila province in the Abruzzo region. This area is characterized by a rugged, mountainous landscape featuring high-altitude intermontane basins such as the Valle Peligna and Valle Roveto. The climate is temperate with significant diurnal temperature variations, which help preserve acidity and develop aromatic complexity in the grapes. The IGT allows for a wide range of wine styles, including white, red, and rosato, as well as frizzante, passito, and novello versions. The production is deeply rooted in local history, with viticulture dating back to Roman times. The disciplinare permits a diverse array of international and indigenous varietals, provided they are authorized for cultivation in the Abruzzo region. The wines are noted for their freshness, structure, and distinct expression of the high-altitude mountain terroir.
