Torgiano Rosso Riserva
About the wine
Torgiano Rosso Riserva, the first wine in Umbria to receive DOCG status in 1990, represents a historic benchmark for the region. Centered on the Sangiovese grape, which must comprise at least 70% of the blend, the wine is crafted to reflect the unique terroir of the Torgiano hills near Perugia. The disciplinare mandates a rigorous aging process of at least 36 months, including a minimum of 12 months in wood and 6 months in the bottle, ensuring the development of a complex, structured, and harmonious profile. Characterized by a brilliant ruby red color, it offers a delicate vinous bouquet and a dry, well-structured palate. Its production is strictly tied to the specific clay-sandy soils and favorable microclimate of the Torgiano commune, excluding alluvial valley floors to prioritize quality. This wine is a testament to the long-standing viticultural tradition of the area, balancing ancient Roman roots with modern precision.
