Val di Neto
About the wine
The Val di Neto IGT covers a significant portion of the Crotone province in Calabria, Italy. Named after the Neto River, which flows from the Sila mountains to the Ionian Sea, the region is characterized by a Mediterranean climate with hot, dry summers and mild, rainy winters. The landscape consists of hilly terrain with diverse soil compositions, ranging from sandy and conglomeratic formations to clay-rich alluvial terraces. The IGT allows for a wide range of wine styles, including white, red, and rosato, as well as frizzante, passito, and novello versions. Production is deeply rooted in local traditions, with a focus on indigenous varieties such as Gaglioppo, Magliocco, Greco Bianco, and Pecorello. The disciplinare emphasizes the link between the specific pedoclimatic conditions of the Crotone area and the resulting organoleptic profiles of the wines, which are known for their harmony and distinct regional character.
