Malvasia di Bosa
About the wine
Malvasia di Bosa is a prestigious and culturally significant DOC from the Planargia region of western Sardinia. Produced primarily from Malvasia di Sardegna grapes, this wine is deeply rooted in local tradition, often associated with hospitality and social ritual. The production area, characterized by Miocene limestone and tuff soils, benefits from a warm, arid climate tempered by sea breezes, which allows for optimal grape maturation and aromatic development. The DOC encompasses diverse styles, including dry, sweet, and passito versions, as well as a sparkling spumante. The Riserva typology is particularly notable, requiring at least two years of aging, with a minimum of one year in wood, resulting in a complex, velvety wine with characteristic almond notes. The wines are celebrated for their aromatic intensity, fine structure, and deep connection to the historical and human landscape of the Bosa area.
