Vermentino di Sardegna
About the wine
Vermentino di Sardegna DOC represents one of the island's most significant and widely produced white wine denominations. The wine is defined by its primary reliance on the Vermentino grape, which must constitute at least 85% of the blend, with the remainder sourced from other non-aromatic white varieties permitted in the region. Characterized by a pale straw-yellow color with subtle greenish reflections, the wine is typically dry to slightly sweet (amabile), offering a fresh, fruity, and sapid profile with a signature light bitter almond finish. The production spans the entire island of Sardinia, benefiting from a Mediterranean climate characterized by high wind exposure—particularly the Mistral—and diverse geological soils ranging from granite and schist to limestone and basalt. These environmental factors, combined with careful viticultural management, produce a wine that is consistently aromatic and vibrant. The DOC also encompasses Frizzante and Spumante typologies, reflecting the versatility of the Vermentino grape in the Sardinian terroir.
