Moscato di Sardegna
About the wine
Moscato di Sardegna is a versatile DOC covering the entire island of Sardinia, dedicated to the historic Moscato Bianco grape. Known since Roman times as 'Apiana' for its sweetness, the variety thrives in the island's Mediterranean climate, benefiting from diverse soil types ranging from granite in the Gallura region to limestone and basalt in the interior. The denomination encompasses four distinct styles: a standard white, a sweet passito, a version from overripe grapes (stramature), and a delicate spumante. The wines are characterized by an intense, aromatic profile, a velvety texture, and a natural sweetness. While the standard and dessert styles emphasize richness and concentration, the spumante version—particularly those from the Gallura or Tempio sub-areas—highlights the grape's aromatic finesse and refreshing acidity. The production is deeply rooted in traditional viticultural practices, including the use of alberello training, ensuring that the final wines reflect the unique pedoclimatic conditions of the Sardinian landscape.
