About the wine

Sardegna Semidano is a distinctive white wine appellation from Sardinia, centered on the rare, indigenous Semidano grape. The DOC allows for a range of styles, including still, sparkling (spumante), and the highly regarded passito, which is produced from grapes dried on the vine or on racks. The wines are characterized by a straw-yellow color with golden highlights, offering a delicate fruity bouquet and a palate that balances softness with sapidity and freshness. A notable feature of the denomination is the 'Mogoro' sub-zone, which encompasses specific communes in the provinces of Oristano and Medio Campidano, known for producing wines with slightly higher minimum alcohol requirements. The Semidano grape must constitute at least 85% of the blend, with other non-aromatic white grapes permitted to complete the remainder. The production is deeply tied to the island's varied Mediterranean climate and complex geological history, resulting in a wine that reflects the unique terroir of the Sardinian landscape.
