Trexenta
About the wine
The Trexenta IGT covers a historical region in south-central Sardinia, characterized by rolling hills, alluvial plains, and a Mediterranean climate with mild, rainy winters and hot, dry summers. Viticulture here dates back to the Neolithic period, with a strong tradition of both ancient and modern winemaking. The IGT allows for a wide range of wine styles, including white, red, and rosato, as well as frizzante and novello versions. Production is highly flexible, permitting the use of any grape variety authorized for cultivation in the Sardinia region. The disciplinare emphasizes traditional cultivation methods, such as the 'alberello' system, adapted to the area's warm, arid conditions. Wines are defined by their specific color and organoleptic profiles, with minimum alcohol levels varying by type. The production zone is strictly limited to fourteen specific municipalities in the province of Cagliari, ensuring a clear link between the terroir and the final product.
