About the wine

The Alcamo DOC, established in 1972, represents a diverse and historically significant viticultural area in western Sicily, spanning the provinces of Trapani and Palermo. While historically renowned for its crisp, refreshing white wines—particularly those based on the Catarratto grape—the denomination has evolved to encompass a wide array of styles, including spumante, rosato, and various red wines like Nero d'Avola, Merlot, and Syrah. The production zone is characterized by varied hilly terrain, ranging from calcareous 'terre rosse' to fertile 'terre nere', benefiting from a Mediterranean climate with mild winters and warm, dry summers. The 'Classico' designation is reserved for high-quality white wines from specific higher-altitude sites. The wines are generally noted for their balanced acidity, aromatic clarity, and structural integrity, reflecting a long-standing tradition of Sicilian winemaking that successfully integrates indigenous varieties with international cultivars.
