Menfi
About the wine
The Menfi DOC, established in 1995, covers a diverse viticultural area in southwestern Sicily, spanning the provinces of Agrigento and Trapani. This appellation is notable for its broad ampelographic base, allowing for a wide range of styles including whites, reds, rosés, and sparkling wines. The DOC encompasses both indigenous Sicilian varieties like Inzolia, Grillo, Catarratto, and Nero d'Avola, as well as international grapes such as Chardonnay, Syrah, and Merlot. The wines are characterized by their Mediterranean influence, often displaying balanced acidity and distinct varietal expression. The regulations permit both single-varietal wines and blends, with specific provisions for 'Superiore' and 'Riserva' designations that require additional aging. The production zone benefits from varied topography, ranging from coastal plains to inland hills, contributing to the versatility of the wines produced under this denomination.
