Pantelleria
About the wine
The Pantelleria DOC, located on the volcanic island of the same name in the province of Trapani, is defined by its unique 'heroic' viticulture. The primary grape is Zibibbo (Muscat of Alexandria), traditionally cultivated in low-lying 'alberello' (bush) vines protected by volcanic stone basins to mitigate the island's intense winds and heat. The denomination is famous for its diverse range of wines, most notably the Passito di Pantelleria, produced from sun-dried grapes, and various Moscato styles, including liquoroso and spumante. These wines are characterized by their intense, fragrant, and aromatic profiles, offering a distinctively warm, solar, and sweet expression of the Zibibbo grape. The production process is deeply tied to the island's geography, with strict regulations ensuring that the unique terroir and traditional manual cultivation methods are preserved in every bottle.
