Camarro
About the wine
The Camarro IGT (Indicazione Geografica Tipica) covers wines produced within the administrative territory of Partanna, in the province of Trapani, Sicily. Established in 1995, this denomination permits the production of white, red, and rosato wines, including frizzante and novello styles. The viticulture is deeply rooted in the Mediterranean climate of the Belice and Modione valleys, characterized by hilly terrain at approximately 400 meters above sea level and soils composed of clay, red Mediterranean earth, and vertisols. The disciplinare allows for a wide range of grape varieties authorized for cultivation in the Sicily region. While most wines are blends, the IGT permits varietal labeling for Ansonica and Sangiovese, provided they constitute at least 85% of the blend. The production is governed by traditional viticultural practices, with specific yield limits and minimum alcohol requirements designed to ensure quality while maintaining the regional character of the wines.
