Cinque Terre
About the wine
The Cinque Terre DOC represents a unique viticultural landscape in Liguria, defined by steep, terraced vineyards carved into the coastal cliffs of the La Spezia province. The appellation covers both dry white wines and the prestigious Sciacchetrà, a passito dessert wine made from sun-dried grapes. The dry wines are primarily composed of Bosco, Albarola, and Vermentino, resulting in pale, straw-colored wines characterized by delicate floral aromas, moderate acidity, and a distinct, saline minerality derived from the proximity to the Mediterranean Sea. The Sciacchetrà, often aged as a Riserva, is a complex, amber-hued nectar with notes of honey, dried fruit, and spices, offering a harmonious balance between sweetness and structure. This DOC is as much a testament to human ingenuity—preserving the fragile dry-stone wall terraces—as it is to the specific microclimate of the Italian Riviera.
