Colli di Luni
About the wine
Colli di Luni is a distinctive cross-regional DOC spanning the border of eastern Liguria (La Spezia) and northern Tuscany (Massa-Carrara). Historically significant, with roots dating back to the Roman port of Luni, the appellation is best known for its Vermentino-based white wines, which are celebrated for their Mediterranean character, saline minerality, and delicate almond notes. The DOC covers a range of styles including a Sangiovese-dominant red, a white blend, and varietal wines from Vermentino and Albarola. The proximity to the sea and the specific clay-arenaceous soils impart a fresh, sapid profile to the wines. While the reds offer a fine, harmonious structure, the whites are particularly prized for their aromatic intensity and crispness, reflecting a long-standing tradition of viticulture in this unique coastal landscape.
