About the wine

The Golfo del Tigullio-Portofino DOC, also known as Portofino, represents the viticultural heritage of the Ligurian coast and its immediate hinterland in the province of Genoa. This diverse appellation encompasses a wide range of styles, including still, sparkling (spumante/frizzante), and passito wines. The white wines are typically based on Vermentino and Bianchetta Genovese, while the reds rely on Ciliegiolo and Dolcetto. The region is characterized by steep, terraced vineyards that benefit from a Mediterranean climate, producing wines with moderate acidity, delicate aromatics, and a distinctively harmonious profile. The DOC also features a prestigious sub-zone, 'Costa dei Fieschi,' which mandates stricter production standards. The wines are noted for their freshness and clear expression of the rugged, maritime-influenced Ligurian terroir, reflecting a long-standing tradition of small-scale, high-quality viticulture.
