Colline del Genovesato
About the wine
The Colline del Genovesato IGT covers a diverse viticultural area in the Liguria region, specifically within the province of Genoa. This denomination encompasses a wide range of wine styles, including white, red, rosato, frizzante, novello, and passito wines. The production zone is characterized by steep, terraced hillsides ranging from sea level to 1,200 meters in altitude, with a strong maritime influence that moderates the climate. Historically shaped by Benedictine monks, the viticulture here is deeply tied to the commercial needs of the city of Genoa. The wines are generally noted for their delicate aromatics, moderate acidity, and sapidity. The disciplinare is highly permissive regarding grape varieties, allowing any variety authorized for cultivation in the Liguria region, provided they are registered in the national vine variety catalog. This flexibility allows producers to highlight both international and indigenous Ligurian grapes.
