About the wine

Ramandolo is a prestigious DOCG dessert wine from the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region, representing one of Italy's northernmost viticultural outposts. Produced exclusively from the Verduzzo Friulano grape (locally known as Verduzzo Giallo), the wine is defined by the challenging, steep, terraced slopes of the Nimis and Tarcento communes. The microclimate, sheltered by the Monte Bernadia, allows for late harvesting and occasional noble rot, resulting in a wine of remarkable structure. Characterized by a golden hue, the palate is sweet yet notably tannic and velvety, offering complex aromas of acacia, dried fruits, honey, and occasionally tea or saffron. It is a quintessential 'meditation wine' that balances high sugar levels with significant extract and a distinct, firm tannic backbone, setting it apart from other Verduzzo-based wines in the region.

Production & aging

The production area is located in the province of Udine, specifically within the communes of Nimis and Tarcento. The vineyards are situated on steep, terraced hillsides at the foot of Monte Bernadia, which acts as a natural barrier against cold northern winds. This unique microclimate, combined with Eocene marl soils (ponca), creates a distinct environment for the cultivation of Verduzzo Friulano.
