Salaparuta
About the wine
The Salaparuta DOC, established in 2006, encompasses a diverse range of wines produced exclusively within the commune of Salaparuta in the province of Trapani, Sicily. The appellation is notable for its versatility, covering both traditional Sicilian varieties—such as Catarratto, Grillo, Inzolia, and Nero d'Avola—and international varieties like Chardonnay, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Syrah. The region’s unique terroir, characterized by hilly terrain, clay-limestone soils, and significant diurnal temperature variations, fosters a high-quality viticulture that yields structured, aromatic, and balanced wines. The disciplinare allows for both standard and 'Riserva' typologies, the latter requiring extended aging with a minimum of six months in wood. The wines are known for their distinct regional character, ranging from delicate, elegant whites to full-bodied, spicy reds, reflecting the long-standing viticultural history of the Belice Valley.
