About the wine

The Sambuca di Sicilia DOC, established in 1995, covers a diverse range of wines produced in the hilly territory of the Sambuca di Sicilia commune in the province of Agrigento. The appellation is notable for its versatility, encompassing white, red, rosato, and passito styles. White wines are typically based on Ansonica (Inzolia), while reds rely on Nero d'Avola, often blended with international varieties like Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Syrah. The region’s Mediterranean climate, characterized by warm, dry summers and clay-rich soils, provides an ideal environment for viticulture. The wines are known for their balanced chemical profiles and distinct varietal character, ranging from fresh, dry whites to structured, velvety reds. The 'Riserva' designation for reds requires a minimum of 24 months of aging, including six months in wood, while the passito style showcases the region's ability to produce concentrated, harmonious sweet wines. This DOC represents a successful integration of ancient viticultural traditions with modern winemaking precision.
