Valdadige
About the wine
The Valdadige DOC, also known as Etschtaler, is a historic cross-regional appellation spanning the Adige River valley across the provinces of Trento, Bolzano, and Verona. This diverse DOC encompasses a wide range of styles, from crisp, mineral-driven whites to structured reds. The white wines, often blends of Pinot Bianco, Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, and Müller-Thurgau, are noted for their freshness and aromatic complexity. The reds, anchored by the indigenous Enantio and Schiava varieties, offer a distinct profile characterized by red fruit notes and moderate tannins, often enhanced by the inclusion of international varieties like Merlot or Lagrein. The region's unique geography—a glacial valley with porphyritic and granitic soils—combined with significant diurnal temperature shifts, imparts a signature elegance and sapidity to the wines. Whether still or frizzante, Valdadige wines reflect a long-standing tradition of viticulture in a vital transit corridor between Italy and Central Europe.

Production & aging
The production area follows the Adige River valley, encompassing numerous communes in the province of Trento (e.g., Trento, Rovereto, Mezzocorona), the province of Bolzano (e.g., Bolzano, Merano, Termeno), and the province of Verona (Brentino Belluno, Dolcè, Rivoli Veronese). The zone is defined by its glacial morainic amphitheater, characterized by sandy, porphyritic, and granitic soils with high drainage capacity.
