About the wine

The Valle Belice IGT covers a specific viticultural area in southwestern Sicily, spanning the provinces of Agrigento and Palermo. This denomination is highly permissive, allowing for the production of white, red, and rosato wines, including frizzante and novello styles. The region benefits from a classic Mediterranean climate with warm, dry summers and mild winters, and soils characterized by clay, limestone, and alluvial deposits. Historically significant for viticulture since the Greek-Selinuntine period, the area is known for its ability to produce wines with distinct organoleptic profiles. The disciplinare allows for the use of any grape variety authorized for cultivation in the Sicily region, provided they are registered in the national vine variety catalog. Producers may label wines by varietal if at least 85% of the grapes come from the specified variety, or by a blend of two varieties if each contributes at least 15%.
