Venezia Giulia
About the wine
The Venezia Giulia IGT covers the entire administrative territory of the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region, including the provinces of Gorizia, Pordenone, Trieste, and Udine. This denomination is highly permissive, allowing for a vast array of white, red, and rosato wines, including frizzante and novello styles. The region benefits from a diverse climate, ranging from Mediterranean influences along the Adriatic coast to continental conditions in the northern Alpine areas. The viticulture is characterized by traditional techniques and a wide range of permitted varietals, reflecting the region's long history of winemaking that dates back to Roman times. The IGT provides a flexible framework for producers to highlight specific varietals, provided they meet the minimum 85% composition requirement for single-varietal labeling. The wines are known for their balanced chemical-physical characteristics and distinct organoleptic profiles, which are deeply tied to the varied soil types and microclimates of the region.
