Aleatico di Gradoli
About the wine
Aleatico di Gradoli is a distinctive DOC from the Lazio region, centered on the volcanic slopes overlooking Lake Bolsena in the province of Viterbo. This appellation is dedicated to the Aleatico grape, which thrives in the mineral-rich volcanic soils and the temperate, breezy climate of the Vulsino district. The wines are produced in four distinct styles: a standard red, a fortified 'liquoroso', a 'liquoroso riserva' aged in oak, and a 'passito' made from dried grapes. The wines are characterized by their deep garnet color, fine aromatic profile, and a velvety, harmonious palate that balances sweetness with good structure. With a history of viticulture dating back to the Etruscans and Romans, the area has long been recognized for its ability to produce high-quality, aromatic red wines. The production remains deeply tied to traditional techniques, ensuring that the unique terroir of the Bolsena caldera is expressed in every bottle.
