Cerveteri
About the wine
The Cerveteri DOC, established in 1974, covers a historic viticultural area in the Lazio region, stretching along the Tyrrhenian coast north of Rome. Rooted in an ancient tradition dating back to the Etruscans, the denomination benefits from a Mediterranean climate and diverse volcanic and alluvial soils. The wines are characterized by their freshness and balance. White wines are primarily based on Trebbiano Toscano (locally known as Procanico) and Malvasia di Candia, offering delicate floral and fruity profiles. Red wines, dominated by Sangiovese and Montepulciano, are noted for their structure and harmonious, dry character. The DOC also includes amabile (semi-sweet) and frizzante (lightly sparkling) versions, reflecting a versatile production style. The area's unique orography and exposure to the sea contribute to the aromatic complexity of the whites and the phenolic maturity of the reds, maintaining a strong link to the territory's long-standing agricultural heritage.
