About the wine

The Circeo DOC, established in 1996, covers a diverse range of wines produced in the southern part of the Agro Pontino in the province of Latina. The appellation encompasses white, red, and rosato styles, including frizzante and spumante versions, as well as monovarietal wines made from Trebbiano, Merlot, and Sangiovese. The region's unique terroir, characterized by ancient dune soils and a Mediterranean climate, benefits from the historical land reclamation of the Pontine Marshes. White wines are typically fresh and fruity, dominated by Trebbiano Toscano, while the reds, led by Merlot and Sangiovese, offer good structure and balanced tannins. The DOC also provides for a 'Riserva' typology for red wines, requiring a minimum of two years of aging, including six months in wood. These wines represent a modern expression of a territory with ancient viticultural roots, balancing traditional practices with contemporary enological standards.
