The Colli Etruschi Viterbesi DOC, also known as Tuscia, encompasses a diverse range of wines produced in the northern Lazio region. This appellation is deeply rooted in the historical viticulture of the Etruscan civilization and later Roman influence. The DOC covers a wide array of styles, including white, red, rosato, and varietal-specific wines such as Procanico (Trebbiano), Grechetto, Rossetto, Moscatello, Sangiovese, and Merlot. The production area is characterized by volcanic soils and a temperate Mediterranean climate, which provide a distinct terroir for these wines. The white wines are typically delicate and harmonious, while the reds, often based on Sangiovese and Montepulciano, offer structure and fragrance. The regulation allows for various versions, including Frizzante, Amabile, and Passito, reflecting the traditional winemaking practices of the Viterbo province. The wines are generally approachable, emphasizing regional identity and historical continuity in the Tuscia landscape.

The production zone is located in the province of Viterbo, Northern Lazio. It includes the entire administrative territory of 38 communes, including Viterbo, Bolsena, Montefiascone, Orvieto (limited historical derogation), and Tuscania. The area is defined by volcanic and sedimentary soils, situated between the Cimini and Sabatini mountains, with vineyards located at altitudes up to 600 meters above sea level.
