Frusinate
About the wine
The Frusinate IGT, or 'del Frusinate', covers the entire administrative province of Frosinone in the Lazio region. This area is characterized by the Valle Latina, defined by the Sacco and Liri rivers, and is surrounded by the Simbruini-Ernici and Lepini-Ausoni-Aurunci mountain ranges. The region features diverse topography, ranging from alluvial plains to hilly and mountainous terrain, with altitudes reaching up to 980 meters. The climate is temperate-transitional, benefiting from good ventilation and exposure. Viticulture here has ancient roots, historically influenced by Benedictine monasteries and documented since the Roman era. The IGT allows for a wide range of wine styles, including white, red, rosato, and passito, with specific provisions for varietal-labeled wines. The production emphasizes traditional cultivation methods and the use of indigenous and regional grape varieties, resulting in balanced, expressive wines that reflect the unique pedoclimatic conditions of the Frosinone province.
