Genazzano
About the wine
The Genazzano DOC, located in the Lazio region, encompasses both white and red wines deeply rooted in the historical viticulture of the upper Sacco Valley. The white wines are primarily based on Malvasia di Candia (minimum 85%), resulting in a straw-yellow, sapid, and fresh wine with delicate fruity notes. The red wines are dominated by Ciliegiolo (minimum 85%), yielding a brilliant ruby-red wine characterized by a fresh, vinous profile with good structure and balanced tannins. The production area, situated on the slopes of the Monti Simbruini, benefits from a temperate climate and soils rich in volcanic and calcareous elements, which contribute to the wines' distinct aromatic complexity and phenolic maturity. The disciplinare emphasizes traditional cultivation methods, including specific altitude limits and strict yield controls, ensuring that the wines reflect the unique terroir of the communes of Genazzano, Olevano Romano, San Vito Romano, Cave, and Paliano.
