Vignanello
About the wine
The Vignanello DOC, located in the province of Viterbo, Lazio, encompasses a historic viticultural area between the Cimini Mountains and the Tiber River. The region is defined by volcanic and calcareous soils, which, combined with a temperate climate, create an ideal environment for both white and red wine production. The white wines, often based on Trebbiano and Malvasia, range from dry to sweet, with the 'Greco' typology standing out for its historical prestige and distinct aromatic profile. Red wines are primarily Sangiovese-based, offering structure and harmony, with a Riserva category requiring at least two years of aging. The appellation is deeply rooted in Etruscan and Roman traditions, with modern production emphasizing the balance between traditional techniques and contemporary quality standards. The wines are characterized by their freshness, balanced acidity, and a clear expression of the volcanic terroir, making them a significant representative of the Lazio wine landscape.
