About the wine

Zagarolo DOC is a historic white wine appellation from the Lazio region, specifically centered in the communes of Gallicano and Zagarolo. Historically significant since Roman times and codified in 16th-century local statutes, the wine is produced from a blend dominated by Malvasia (up to 70%) and Trebbiano (minimum 30%), with small allowances for Bellone and Bombino. The production zone, situated in the northern part of the Alta Valle del Sacco, features volcanic and calcareous soils between 100 and 400 meters above sea level. The resulting wine is typically straw-yellow in color, offering a delicate, vinous bouquet and a dry or amabile palate that is soft, harmonious, and balanced. While the appellation has faced challenges in recent decades, it remains a testament to the traditional viticulture of the Roman countryside, characterized by its ability to produce consistent, approachable white wines with good structure and moderate acidity.
