Brindisi
About the wine
The Brindisi DOC, established in 1979, represents a significant viticultural tradition in the Salento-Arco Ionico area of Puglia. Centered on the communes of Brindisi and Mesagne, the denomination is defined by the dominance of the Negroamaro grape, which thrives in the deep, clay-calcareous soils of the region. The DOC encompasses a diverse range of styles, including robust reds, elegant rosés, and a variety of white wines, with several types available as spumante. The red wines are characterized by their intense, ethereal aromas and a full, harmonious palate, often showing brick-red reflections with age. The production relies on both traditional 'alberello pugliese' and modern espalier training systems. The Brindisi DOC is a testament to the historical synergy between the local terroir and the human expertise in managing the heat-loving Negroamaro, resulting in wines that are balanced, expressive, and deeply rooted in the coastal landscape of the Adriatic.
