About the wine

The Locorotondo DOC, established in 1969, represents a distinctive white wine tradition from the Valle d'Itria in Puglia. Produced primarily from Verdeca and Bianco d'Alessano grapes, these wines are celebrated for their pale straw color, delicate aromas, and a characteristic dry, harmonious palate often marked by a subtle, pleasant bitterness. The production area, situated on the Murgia plateau at altitudes between 280 and 418 meters, features unique red soils rich in iron and aluminum oxides, which, combined with a warm, arid climate, impart a specific mineral tension to the wines. The DOC encompasses several styles, including still white, Spumante, and Passito. Historically noted for its 'esilissimo' (slender) and pure profile, Locorotondo is a testament to the ancient viticultural heritage of the region, where the interplay between the two primary grape varieties—Verdeca for aromatics and Bianco d'Alessano for structure—creates a balanced, elegant expression of the Apulian terroir.
