Campania
About the wine
The Campania IGT covers the entire administrative territory of the Campania region in Southern Italy. Historically known as 'Campania Felix', the region is characterized by diverse, predominantly volcanic soils and a long-standing viticultural tradition dating back to Roman times. The IGT is highly permissive, allowing for the production of white, red, and rosato wines, including frizzante, passito, novello, and liquoroso styles. Producers can utilize a wide range of indigenous and international grape varieties authorized for the region. When a specific varietal is mentioned on the label, it must constitute at least 85% of the blend. The disciplinare emphasizes the importance of volcanic soil composition in providing complexity and persistence to the wines. The production regulations focus on maintaining traditional quality standards while allowing for modern winemaking techniques that respect the unique organoleptic characteristics of the local terroir.
