Cilento
About the wine
The Cilento DOC, located in the province of Salerno, represents a diverse viticultural landscape deeply rooted in the historical legacy of Greek colonization. The appellation covers a wide range of styles, including red, white, and rosato, alongside varietal-focused wines like Aglianico and Fiano. The red wines are typically structured around Aglianico, while the whites rely on Fiano, often blended with Trebbiano and Greco. The region's rugged, hilly terrain, characterized by siliceous-calcareous soils and a Mediterranean climate, imparts a distinct mineral character and balanced acidity to the wines. Cilento Aglianico is the most structured offering, requiring a minimum of one year of aging, with a Riserva designation available for wines aged at least three years. These wines are celebrated for their ability to pair seamlessly with the rustic, authentic cuisine of the Campania region, offering a genuine expression of a territory that stretches from the Tyrrhenian coast into the mountainous interior.
