About the wine

The Campi Flegrei DOC, located in the volcanic landscape west of Naples, is a unique appellation defined by its ancient viticultural heritage and sandy, mineral-rich soils that have famously resisted phylloxera, allowing for the survival of ungrafted (piede franco) vines. The denomination focuses on two primary local varieties: Falanghina, which produces crisp, aromatic whites with distinct salinity, and Piedirosso (locally known as Pér e palummo), which yields elegant, ruby-hued reds with characteristic notes of red fruit and spice. The production zone encompasses historic coastal communes including Pozzuoli, Bacoli, and the island of Procida. The wines are noted for their freshness, harmony, and a distinct mineral profile derived from the volcanic terroir. The DOC offers a versatile range of styles, including still, spumante, and passito versions, all reflecting the deep-rooted connection between the Hellenic-influenced viticultural history of the region and its complex, eruptive geology.
