Copertino
About the wine
Copertino is a historic DOC appellation located in the heart of the Salento peninsula in Puglia. Centered on the robust Negroamaro grape, the wines are defined by their deep connection to the region's 'terra rossa' soils and Mediterranean climate. The Rosso is characterized by a persistent, vinous bouquet and a distinctive, velvety, slightly bitter finish, often gaining complexity with age. A 'Riserva' typology is available for wines aged at least two years. The DOC also includes a Rosato, noted for its salmon-pink hue and a pleasant, herbaceous, and slightly bitter profile. The production area, spanning several communes in the province of Lecce, benefits from high solar exposure and traditional viticultural practices that have evolved since the time of the Magna Graecia. These wines represent a classic expression of Salento's viticultural heritage, balancing traditional rusticity with a refined, structured character.
