Moscato di Trani
About the wine
Moscato di Trani is a specialized DOC from the Puglia region, centered around the historic city of Trani and the Murgia plateau. This appellation focuses exclusively on the Moscato Bianco grape, producing two distinct styles: a 'Dolce Naturale' (naturally sweet) and a 'Liquoroso' (fortified). The wines are characterized by their intense aromatic profile, golden color, and velvety, harmonious palate. The production area is defined by its calcareous, stony soils and a sub-Mediterranean climate, which, combined with traditional viticultural practices, yield grapes with high natural sugar content. The 'Dolce Naturale' version is prized for its pure expression of the grape's aromatic intensity, while the 'Liquoroso' style offers a more robust, warm, and complex profile. Both styles reflect a long-standing regional tradition of dessert wine production that remains deeply tied to the specific terroir of the Bari and Foggia provinces.
