Negroamaro di Terra d'Otranto
About the wine
The Negroamaro di Terra d’Otranto DOC covers a historic viticultural area in the southern Puglia region, encompassing the provinces of Brindisi, Lecce, and Taranto. The denomination is centered on the Negroamaro grape, which must constitute at least 90% of the blend, reflecting the deep-rooted tradition of this variety in the Salento peninsula. The wines are characterized by their Mediterranean influence, offering a range of styles from structured, harmonious reds—including a Riserva typology—to fresh, fruity rosés, which are also produced in Spumante and Frizzante versions. The terroir, defined by limestone-based soils and a warm, breezy climate, imparts distinct organoleptic qualities to the wines, balancing intensity with elegance. The production rules emphasize traditional cultivation methods, such as the 'alberello' or modern espalier systems, ensuring high-quality output that has been a hallmark of the region since ancient times.
