Ostuni
About the wine
The Ostuni DOC, established in 1972, represents a historic viticultural area in the province of Brindisi, Puglia. The denomination covers two distinct typologies: a white wine based primarily on the Impigno and Francavilla grapes, and a red wine, 'Ottavianello', which highlights the rare Ottavianello variety. The production zone, situated between the lower Murgia and the Valle d'Itria, benefits from a Mediterranean climate with significant diurnal temperature shifts, which helps preserve acidity and aromatic complexity in the grapes. The white wines are characterized by a straw-yellow color, a delicate vinous nose, and a dry, harmonious palate. The Ottavianello, ranging from cherry to light ruby in color, offers a distinctively dry and balanced profile. The DOC reflects a long-standing tradition of viticulture in the region, where the unique 'red earth' soils and traditional cultivation methods continue to define the identity of these Puglian wines.
