Pinot nero dell'Oltrepò Pavese
About the wine
Pinot Nero dell'Oltrepò Pavese is a distinctive red wine appellation from the Lombardy region, focusing on the vinification of Pinot Noir in a still, red style. Unlike the region's more famous sparkling wines, this DOC highlights the grape's ability to express the complex, hilly terroir of the Oltrepò Pavese. The wines are characterized by a ruby red color, often with orange reflections, and a profile that balances ethereal, fruity aromas—such as black cherry and forest berries—with a dry, harmonious, and sometimes slightly tannic palate. The Riserva typology requires a minimum of 24 months of aging, including at least 6 months in wood, which adds depth and structure. This DOC represents a historical commitment to the variety in an area where Pinot Noir has been cultivated for centuries, benefiting from the diverse calcareous and clay-rich soils of the Apennine foothills.
