Riviera del Garda Classico
About the wine
Riviera del Garda Classico is a versatile DOC from the western shores of Lake Garda in Lombardy, encompassing a diverse range of styles including white, red, and the region's signature 'Chiaretto' rosato. The denomination is deeply tied to the unique morainic soils and the Mediterranean-influenced microclimate of the Benaco area. The red wines, particularly those based on the indigenous Groppello grape, are known for their delicate, spicy, and almond-noted profiles. The Chiaretto, often described as 'succoso' (juicy), is a historic style produced via short maceration, reflecting a tradition dating back to the late 19th century. The whites are primarily Riesling-based, offering freshness and floral aromatics. The production zone spans from the hills of Salò to the Chiese river, benefiting from the lake's thermal regulation, which ensures consistent ripening and distinctively sapid, structured wines.
