Terre Lariane
About the wine
The Terre Lariane IGT, established in 2008, covers a vast, topographically diverse area across the provinces of Como and Lecco in Lombardy. The region is defined by the influence of Lake Como, which moderates temperatures and provides a unique microclimate compared to the surrounding Padana plain. Viticulture here is often challenging, characterized by steep, terraced slopes and mountain or hillside terrain. The wines are noted for their elegance, with whites typically displaying significant minerality and sapidity, while reds are generally light to medium-bodied with red fruit profiles. The disciplinare permits a wide range of international and indigenous varieties, including Verdese, which is recognized as the only local autochthonous grape. Production is focused on small-scale, often artisanal, operations that leverage the region's scenic beauty and historical viticultural heritage to produce distinct, terroir-driven wines.

It includes the Lario territory, the northern shore of Lake Ceresio, the Brianza hillside belt, and various morainic lakes. The zone is characterized by diverse geological formations, ranging from high-altitude Alpine terrain in the north to Prealpine limestone and marl deposits in the south, transitioning into the high plains.
